Privacy Policy
This page explains what information whatismyip.website collects, how it's used, and which third-party services are involved in running the site. This site does not require an account, does not use contact forms, and does not knowingly collect personal information beyond what's described below.
The IP lookup tool
To display your IP address, your browser sends a request to a third-party IP lookup service. That service reads your connection's public IP address and returns it, along with approximate location, ISP, and timezone data, directly to your browser. This site does not store, log, or have separate access to that information — it's requested fresh each time you load the page and displayed only to you.
The services used for this are ipapi.co, ipwho.is, and api.ipify.org (used as fallbacks if one is unavailable). Each operates under its own privacy policy, which governs how they handle requests made to them.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand overall traffic, such as how many people visit and which pages are popular. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects data such as your approximate location, device type, and browsing behavior on this site. This data is aggregated and is not used to identify you individually.
You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Fonts
This site loads typefaces from Google Fonts. Loading these fonts involves your browser making a request to Google's servers, which may log standard request data such as your IP address, similar to any other web request.
What this site does not do
- It does not sell any data to third parties.
- It does not use the IP lookup data for advertising or profiling.
- It does not require sign-up, passwords, or personal account information.
Third-party links
Pages on this site may link to external resources. This policy doesn't cover the practices of any third-party site you navigate to from here.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as the site changes, for example if new tools or services are added. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
